Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo returned to Manchester United training on Wednesday as Michael Carrick took charge of his first session at Carrington.
The duo were absent due to their involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations, where Ivory Coast and Cameroon exited at the quarter-final stage. Their return comes at a crucial time, with United preparing for Saturday’s Manchester derby.
Noussair Mazraoui remains unavailable as he continues his AFCON campaign with host nation Morocco, who face Nigeria in the semi-finals.
Amad and Mbeumo last featured in the 4–4 draw with Bournemouth in December, a match in which Amad opened the scoring. The pair have combined for nine goals this season and have built a strong understanding in attack.
Their availability boosts Carrick’s options, although Shea Lacey will miss the derby through suspension following his red card against Brighton in the FA Cup.
Carrick is expected to provide further team news in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
